CH&E Construction - Green Building
CH&E Construction, a member of the U.S. Green Building
Council since 2002, recently acted as Construction Manager for the renovation
of St. Stephens Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA. This project
received a Silver rating and become the first church in the nation to
achieve LEED certification.
As a member of the project team, CH&E was involved in planning and
pricing for construction. As the builder, CH&E was particularly
involved in Indoor Air Quality, Recycling, and Materials for this project.
In addition to meeting certification requirements, CH&E spent time
discussing Green principals with St. Stephen's students who will inhabit
the new building. CH&E also procured funding through the Sustainable
Energy Fund to incorporate solar powered lighting for a project sign
that highlighted the Green aspect of the building.
Through the association with the Fund, CH&E has also installed a
wind generator and a photo-voltaic array in Hersheypark for a demonstration
project that was, in part, funded by PA-DEP.
